NEW YORK MEDIATED SETTLEMENTS SPIKE IN FIRST HALF OF 2010. MANHATTAN BASED LAW FIRM PARTICIPATION UP SHARPLY.
For the first six months of 2010, the cumulative value of cases resolved for NAM mediated settlements within the New York market increased by 37.89% over the same period a year ago. The increase was greatest in the first quarter of 2010, with settlements surpassing last year's figures by 52.52%. For the April-June period, 2010 settlements increased by 23.24% over the prior year.
During the Jan-June 2010 six month period, 83% of all NAM New York cases heard were resolved.
Additionally, and of particular note, is that ADR activity spiked for Manhattan law firms. NAM saw an increase of 32.77% in arbitrations and mediations that were referred to the company during the first six months of 2010, as compared to the same period a year ago.
