Judge DiBlasi is featured this month in an article written by Aimée Groth in Super Lawyers Magazine, entitled “The Best Neutral, Mediating with John DiBlasi”. She gets up close and personal with Judge DiBlasi and explores why he has been ranked the #1 Mediator in the United States by the National Law Journal for the second straight year. The profile tracks Judge DiBlasi’s career from his early days on the bench for the City of Mount Vernon to his role as New York Supreme Court Justice of the Commercial Division to his current position as one of the top Hearing Officer’s on NAM’s (National Arbitration and Mediation) roster.

In the article, Judge DiBlasi attributes the growth of alternative dispute resolution to the enormous backlog in the state and federal court systems. He says, “The longer cases are delayed, the greater the expense in attorney’s fees.” He estimates that less that 1 percent of his cases go to trial after mediation. “I don’t want to strike out,” he says. “I’m very driven.”

Roy Israel, President and CEO of NAM stated: “Whenever a prestigious publication focuses on one of our mediators or arbitrators, and writes a feature article about them, it is an affirmation of the quality of talent we recruit to join our roster and a testament to their accomplishments. Judge DiBlasi is well-deserved of this recognition, and I am very proud that Super Lawyers selected one of NAM’s finest to be featured in their magazine”.

For the second year in a row, Judge DiBlasi has been ranked the #1 mediator in the United States by the National Law Journal Reader Rankings Survey. In addition to being ranked #1 nationally, Judge DiBlasi has been rated a Top 10 Mediator in the New York Law Journal’s Annual Survey for six consecutive years. He has also been voted “Best International Mediator” and “Best Financial Markets Mediator”, and has been ranked one of the top ten arbitrators in New York State in the “Best Individual Arbitrator” category. He holds an AV Preeminent peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell in both Alternative Dispute Resolution and Litigation – a distinction given only to those who possess the highest ethical standards and professional ability.
