SUSAN HERNANDEZ, ESQ. AUTHORS ARTICLE ON MEDIATION FOR NYSTLA’S BILL OF PARTICULARS, VOL II, 2016
NAM is proud to announce that an article written by Susan Hernandez, Esq. entitled Revisiting Mediation: Key Components to Success, will be published in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association's (NYSTLA) publication, Bill of Particulars, Vol. II, 2016 on December 12, 2016
In the article, Ms. Hernandez casts a fresh perspective on mediating personal injury claims and offers practical tips for the various stages of the mediation process including: the importance of preparation and pre-mediation submissions; opening statements during the joint session; assessing the claim’s fair value; and the mediator’s role in achieving a mutually acceptable resolution. Ms. Hernandez states: “Mediation is a partnership endeavor….as with most things, preparation is the key, civility is the rule and knowledge is paramount” to achieve a successful outcome.
Susan Hernandez has mediated disputes involving contracts, discrimination, employment, personal injury, real property/partition, and sexual harassment. For the second year in a row, Ms. Hernandez was voted one of the Top Ten Mediators in New York State by the 2016 New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey and was named a National Law Journal 2016 Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 48 nationwide.
