ATLANTA I-DAY 2017 - "THE PERFECT STORM"

On Friday, August 18, 2017, the Atlanta Insurance community will come together for I-Day, organized by the Atlanta CPCU Society. The Atlanta CPCU Society Chapter is part of the International CPCU Society that links over 65,000 insurance professionals around the world. The CPCU designation is recognized as a credential of the highest level in the insurance community. The Atlanta I-Day event draws over 300 insurance professionals from the metro area for a day of speakers, educational programming and networking. It will be held at the Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead.

Richard P. Byrne, Esq. is an arbitrator and mediator at NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) and serves as a Co-Managing Partner for L’Abbate, Balkan, Colavita & Contini, L.L.P. He will present a one-hour seminar entitled Construction Defect Claims: A Mediator’s Perspective. Below is a program description:

Construction defect claims often evolve into one of the most complex, expensive, unwieldy and exasperating types of litigation.  Numerous parties, extensive documentation, never ending depositions and competing experts – with underlying insurance coverage disputes and parallel declaratory judgment actions – have potential to cumulatively present all the negatives of the litigation process in one setting.  This program will address the alternative route of Mediation as a means to cast a net over the situation and provide a forum to address the issues in a controlled fashion – before the parties and their insurers find their resources impaired and their options curtailed by litigation – with no way to reverse course.
