NAM IN THE NEWS

On Thursday, May 17th, NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) held its exclusive Diamond Sponsor Signature Social for the members of the Association of Corporate Counsel New York City Chapter (ACC-NYC) at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South in New York City. Entitled A Night of Broadway Music and Theater History at The Players, the event was, indeed, a night to remember!

Nearly 150 in-house counsel, major law firms and NAM neutrals, including, Richard Byrne, Esq., Hon. Karla Moskowitz and Hon. Peter B. Skelos, attended the gala event and a show-stopper night was had by all. Food and drink flowed throughout the evening. Guests were treated to tours of the historic mansion, which included views of Edwin Booth's bedroom where the skull he used during his 100 consecutive performances of Hamlet sits, along with his collection of books, plays and theatre magazines and Mark Twain's famous poker table.

Three Broadway musical cast members sang on The Players Club stage. Nick Adams (La Cage aux Folles, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Guys & Dolls, A Chorus Line, Chicago), Christine Dwyer (Wicked, Rent) and Devin Ilaw (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) all performed to the delight of everyone who attended. Nick belted out a medley of hits wrapped around “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, Christine sang the upbeat “The Wizard and I” from the Tony Award winning “Wicked” and Devin sang the emotional “Why God” from Miss Saigon.

The Players is a National Historic Landmark and private social club founded in 1888 by Edwin Booth, one of the most renowned American actors of the 19th century. He purchased this historic Gothic-style mansion and commissioned architect Stanford White to transform it into a club “for the promotion of social intercourse between representative members of the dramatic profession and the kindred professions of literature, painting, sculpture and music, and the patrons of the arts.” More than 130 years later, the tradition continues in the House That Booth Built.

Amy J. Adams, Executive Director of ACC New York City stated, “This event certainly goes to the top of the list for amazing ACC-NYC socials – the membership will be speaking about this and NAM for years to come!”

NAM is a Diamond Sponsor for the chapter's 2018 Sponsorship Program. Serving the five boroughs and Long Island, the ACC-NYC connects with over 1,700 in-house counsel. One of the ACC's largest Chapters, ACC-NYC provides its members with the highest quality and most relevant programming spanning multiple industries and companies of various sizes.
