In his prior legal practice, Mr. Zuckerman was a litigator in the Issues & Appeals group at Jones Day. His trial and appellate practice touched nearly every area of the law, including the most complex commercial cases and class actions. He became recognized for his skill in developing legal strategy and drafting briefs, as well as negotiating settlement agreements. He represented both plaintiffs and defendants.
He additionally is a four-time federal law clerk, for judges on the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits, in the Eastern District of New York, and in the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Zuckerman was a law professor also on the full-time faculty of the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
Mr. Zuckerman has experience in myriad areas of the law. For example:
▪ Contracts/Commercial: Whether business to business, or business to consumer, Mr. Zuckerman has a breadth of experience with contract disputes and commercial transactions. His experience includes purchase agreements, professional service agreements, operating agreements, vendor, and employment agreements, and more. Mr. Zuckerman additionally handles complex commercial claims.
▪ Employment/Workplace: In the workplace, conflict often arises between employees, the employer, and an employee (current or former), and otherwise. Mr. Zuckerman is skilled at resolving employment disputes and claims of all sorts.
▪ Landlord, Tenant, Condo, and Real Property: Mr. Zuckerman handles disputes involving commercial and residential leases, property damage, real estate transactions and sales, security deposits, homeowners’ association rules, foreclosures, and more.
▪ Credit Reporting, Debt, and Consumer: Mr. Zuckerman understands the intricate issues unique to credit and debt disputes. His experience also extends to consumer transactions and beyond.
Mr. Zuckerman is active in the community. He frequently publishes and speaks on various topics including conflict management and alternative dispute resolution. He is a leader in the ADR community and serves as the vice president of a non-profit dedicated to improving access to mediation services. He also serves as a mediator and arbitrator in several Illinois courts. Mr. Zuckerman was formerly on the full-time faculty at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and is currently on the adjunct faculty of Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he teaches Alternative Dispute Resolution to second- and third-year law students.
