Meet NAM's Presenters
James W. Borkowski, Esq. distinguished career spans more than 30 years with a practice focused primarily on litigation at the trial and appellate levels in both the state and federal court systems. He has successfully represented insurance carriers, corporations and individuals in personal injury, construction, litigation, general liability, premises liability, property damage, automobile and commercial litigation (both plaintiff and defendant). In 2024, for the fifth year in a row, Mr. Borkowski was named a Top Ten Neutral by the New York Law Journal, “Best Of” survey. Mr. Borkowski is available to mediate and arbitrate cases throughout New York State.
The Hon. Judith N. McMahon (Ret.), former Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, served the county of Richmond in various capacities for more than 30 years, overseeing a caseload that included medical malpractice, public health law, and nursing home matters. She previously managed the Judicial Mediation, Jury Coordinating Part, Medical Malpractice Discovery, the Foreclosure Residential Conference Part, Foreclosure Auctions, DCM5, and Hurricane Sandy Parts in Richmond County. Her remarkable judicial career includes her service as Administrative Judge of the Supreme Court for Richmond County. In addition to her distinguished legal career, including her many years on the bench, as a court attorney, and as a trial attorney in private practice, Judge McMahon previously practiced as a licensed pharmacist, working in hospitals and retail pharmacies. She is a member of NAM's (National Arbitration and Mediation) Hearing Officer Panel and is available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout the New York Metro area.
Michael B. Titowsky, Esq. is a highly experienced attorney who has represented thousands of clients in court litigation and private mediation across the New York Metropolitan area for more than 40 years. As both an attorney in private practice and as a hearing officer for NAM, Mr. Titowsky has successfully resolved personal injury cases, some of which resulted in catastrophic injury, including labor law, slip and fall, premises liability, and automobile accidents. Prior to joining NAM, Mr. Titowsky was a partner in a prominent New York law firm. During his 29-year tenure with the firm, he litigated a variety of personal injury-related matters, such as high exposure NY labor law, premises liability, motor vehicle, general liability, insurance coverage/ indemnity, and medical malpractice cases from inception to trial and appeals. In 2024, he was ranked a Top Ten Mediator by the New York Law Journal “Best Of” survey. Mr. Titowsky is available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout New York State.
