Spodek (Ret.) brings over two decades of judicial experience to her mediation and arbitration practice, offering a distinguished track record of resolving disputes across a wide range of civil matters. Throughout her career on the bench, Justice Spodek conducted daily settlement conferences for nearly 20 years, uniquely positioning her to guide parties toward effective and efficient resolutions.
As an elected Justice of the New York State Supreme Court in Kings County, Justice Spodek oversaw complex civil litigation and decided discovery motions in the Central Compliance Part. She is highly regarded for her deep subject-matter expertise in high-value torts and professional liability, having presided over the Medical Malpractice Trial Readiness Part and managed more than 1,000 medical malpractice matters. Her extensive docket also included high-stakes construction accidents, Labor Law cases, contract disputes, automobile accidents, and general negligence actions.
Justice Spodek’s broad judicial experience includes conducting both jury and non-jury trials in civil matters. Prior to her election to the Supreme Court, she served as Supervising Judge of the Civil Court of Kings County and as an Acting Family Court Judge. Before taking the bench, she gained invaluable perspective as a partner in private practice focusing on civil litigation, negligence, and employment matters, as well as serving as an Assistant Corporation Counsel representing the City of New York in personal injury and wrongful death actions.
