Hon. Jeremy S. Weinstein (Ret.) to Receive Queens County Bar Association's Inaugural Legacy Award

NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is proud to announce that the Honorable Jeremy S. Weinstein (Ret.) has been selected to receive the Queens County Bar Association's inaugural Legacy Award. Judge Weinstein will be presented with the award at the QCBA's 150th Anniversary Gala on November 10, 2026, at Citi Field.
Created in recognition of the QCBA's 150th anniversary, the Legacy Award honors individuals whose significant and enduring contributions have helped shape the Queens legal community and the Association. Only seven Legacy Awards are expected to be presented throughout the anniversary year.
Judge Weinstein's decades of public service have left a lasting mark on Queens and its legal community. He began his career as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the State of New York and later served as Associate Counsel to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly. In 1979, he was elected to the New York State Senate, where he served for 14 years and held leadership positions on several committees addressing the judiciary, civil practice, crime, and corrections.
His distinguished 25-year judicial career began with his election to the New York City Civil Court in 1993. Judge Weinstein later served as Supervising Judge of the Queens County Civil Court and as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Queens County. In 2007, he was appointed Administrative Judge of the Queens County Supreme Court, Civil Term, and subsequently served concurrently as Acting Administrative Judge of the court's Criminal Term. In 2009, he was named Administrative Judge for Civil Matters in the 11th Judicial District, a position he held until his retirement from the bench in 2019.
During his judicial service, Judge Weinstein advanced several initiatives designed to improve access to justice and meet the evolving needs of Queens residents. Among them, he established a dedicated Matrimonial Part, oversaw the development of a Foreclosure Part, and helped create a free Uncontested Matrimonial Clinic.
Judge Weinstein has remained active in the Queens legal community since retiring from the bench. He currently serves as a Hearing Officer with NAM, where he applies his extensive judicial and legal experience to the arbitration and mediation of commercial, construction, medical malpractice, personal injury, and other civil disputes.
