NAM Hearing Officer James W. Borkowski, Esq. successfully mediated the settlement of a catastrophic construction injury case for $20 million. Plaintiff fell from a scaffold suffering crush injuries to their skull with traumatic brain injury and was rendered a quadriplegic.
Plaintiff's attorney commented: “This was a tough one, and Jim Borkowski did a great job. After hours of negotiating, the parties reached an impasse. Jim did not give up, and got it done.”
Defense counsel said: “Going into the mediation, I thought the case had no chance of settling. Jim was knowledgeable in all aspects of the Labor Law. Jim's mediation style gets to the heart of the matter. If not for Jim's efforts, I do not believe the case would have settled.”
