Joseph L. Ehrlich’s long and distinguished career includes practicing law for more than 30 years, first as a prominent attorney, and now as a full-time Hearing Officer with NAM. In 2025, he was recognized by the legal community as the Best Individual Mediator in the New York Law Journal “Best Of” survey and has consistently been voted a Top Ten Mediator over the last 14 years, including landing the #1 spot in 2016 and 2022, as well as both #1 Mediator and #1 Arbitrator in 2019.

Mr. Ehrlich handled hundreds of cases from inception through trial, including those related to construction, negligence, personal injury, premises liability, labor law, auto, and product liability. His many years in practice earned him a reputation for being fair, levelheaded, and able to accurately value a case. A seasoned trial professional, Mr. Ehrlich has tried cases in virtually all counties and venues in the metropolitan area, including New York, Kings, Queens, Bronx, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Orange, Sullivan, and Rockland Counties.

Mr. Ehrlich’s integrity and legal acumen have earned him the respect and confidence of both the plaintiff and defense bars, as his case referrals are sourced equally from both sides, as well as directly from insurance carrier representatives. Mr. Ehrlich’s years of practice have given him an extensive understanding of the case evaluation nuances specific to many different types of cases and injuries. He is a longtime supporter of alternative dispute resolution and his expertise in complex negotiations makes him an exceptionally well rounded and effective arbitrator and mediator with NAM.

Mr. Ehrlich hears cases throughout New York State and serves on NAM’s national roster of hearing officers. He is often selected to serve as a mediator and/or arbitrator on cases throughout the country.
