NAM Neutrals To Present a CLE Seminar on Arbitration of Commercial Disputes

CLE Events | Webinar Date: February 7, 2017

NAM panel members Hon. John P. DiBlasi, Hon. Luis A. Gonzalez and Richard P. Byrne, Esq. have been invited to present a CLE seminar to the law firm of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. The CLE entitled “Arbitration of Commercial Disputes: Best Practices and Tips from the Arbitrators” will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

The CLE program will focus on the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the fundamentals for the successful arbitration of commercial disputes. Given the cost in terms of time, expense, and uncertainty of litigating in the court system, arbitration is a cost-effective and time-efficient alternative to the unpredictability of litigation.

Arbitration affords the parties many advantages including confidentiality and privacy, limited discovery, input into the selection of the arbitrator and finality by virtue of limited rights to appeal. Topics to be discussed include: inclusion of an arbitration clause in commercial agreements; arbitration rules and procedures; the single arbitrator versus the tri-panel; discovery; preparing for the arbitration; pre- and post-hearing submissions and closing arguments.

Roy Israel, President and CEO of NAM stated: “I am so pleased when a prominent law firm such as Kelley Drye and Warren invites our neutrals to speak on relevant matters. It is an affirmation of the quality of talent on NAM's panel and NAM's preeminent position in the ADR community. I am certain that having the opportunity to hear directly from three of NAM's top neutrals, will prove to be an intellectually enriching experience for all who attend.”

Richard P. Byrne, Esq., Hon. John P. DiBlasi and Hon. Luis A. Gonzalez are available to hear cases throughout New York State and the United States.
